├ůsmund Hasli is back with another cool music video for the electro-pop duo "The Familiar", who are comprised of Norway-based Mads Martinsen and New York’s Ruth Mirsky.
This music video is the 2nd part of a trilogy that he is working on. I really love this track, and the concept for the music video is wonderful. It has depth and is well thought out.

The theme for the video deals with the fact that you are in control of your own destiny. The story features a female scientist and her struggle working with dark matter and supernovas, and more private matters too.

An astrophysicist from the University of Oslo was used as a consultant concerning the maths behind the physics.
All the equations featured in this music video are dealing with the mentioned subject. Pretty nerdy stuff!

Hasli shot the entire piece with a Sony A7SII. This camera has exceptional low-light capabilities, which can be clearly seen during the exterior night shots of the telescope.
You can really see the stars and moonlight. This location contrasts great with the more high-key scenes from the lecturing hall and the bathroom.

I was great fun to do a black and white grade again. It is refreshing to deal with imagery without having to deal with colourbalancing.
With black and white imagery shaping the light and getting the right contrast is king.
